Five services to add value
Each of these began as a real problem or idea before it became a service. Pick the one closest to yours.
Android and iOS app development
I build in Flutter, so one codebase covers iPhone, Android and the web. I stay with an app from the first conversation to approval on the App Store and Google Play, and keep looking after updates once people rely on it.
- Scoping and a written product spec
- Subscriptions and in-app purchases
- Offline storage and on-device encryption
- Store listings and release management
- Stuffrite is live on iOS and Android, with encrypted offline storage and automatic Pay Day budgeting. Read the case study
- Wheels Spin looks up UK vehicle data from a registration and guides a 360 walkaround using the phone's gyroscope. Read the case study
Web Build Studio
I build sites that load fast, work for everyone, get found in search and follow UK privacy and cookie law. For most small businesses a hand-built site is the best fit. If you need a shop or a booking system, Shopify or WordPress can be the better choice, and I'll explain why before I start.
- Brochure, shop and booking sites
- Search, structured data and Search Console
- Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA
- Audits of an existing site and care plans
- This website, written by hand with no template and no tracking scripts.
- Scytronix Systems, a UK physics and engineering consultancy, rebuilt with interactive demonstrations of its work.
SaaS software development
I build software around how your company already works, so your team doesn't have to bend to fit it. Stock, bookings, customer records, scheduling and invoicing can sit in one system that talks to the accounting package and spreadsheets you already use.
- Consultation and a scoped specification
- Delivered in stages you can use early
- Connected to your existing tools
- Honest advice on what is achievable
- Neon Plant & Tool Hire is a whole plant and tool hire business built as a working demonstration, covering the customer website, warehouse, CRM, trade portal, HR and scheduling. See the demo
Business process improvement
A lot of software problems turn out to be process problems. I start by sitting with the people who do the work and mapping what really happens, then look for where time and money leak out. The fix is the simplest tool that works, which is sometimes a better spreadsheet and not new software.
- Process mapping with your team
- Root cause and waste analysis
- Business cases with real numbers
- Excel and Microsoft 365 automation
- Payroll and workforce planning rebuilt in Microsoft 365 and adopted as the business standard, cutting payroll time by half or more.
- A £50k business case taken to an Operations Director, alongside a library of spreadsheet tools a former team still uses.
- Lean Six Sigma methods applied in a regional parcel depot through peak COVID volumes.
Computer systems validation consultancy
If a system has to survive an audit, the evidence needs to exist before the auditor asks. I write requirements so they can be tested, trace each one to the work and the test that proves it, and re-validate whenever something changes. The paperwork comes out of the build as it goes, so nothing gets bolted on at the end.
- Requirements written to be tested
- Requirements traceability matrices
- Recorded test evidence for each requirement
- Change control and re-validation
- All 29 requirements in the Neon WMS demo are traced to recorded evidence, each with its own validation folder and change log. Browse the validation pack

Describe the problem in a few lines and you'll get a straight answer, including when the answer is that software won't fix it.
